Need I say more than...
I love my coffee!
It is essential to have the right kit! For years we had a Nespresso machine, the one where you had a nozel for frothing and to be honest, we ued the milky frother twice so made do with the black in various guizes as expresso, costa rican etc etc.
After a lot of research and the range of flavours / styles and ease of use we decided the Dolce Gusto pod/capsules were the best on offer... and we were not disappointed.
It offered coffee (would you believe) including lattes and cappucinos, cold drinks including lemon, peach and iced cappucinos and other types including hot chocolate so the kids would be happy and even Nesquik!
The Dolce Gusto concept works on capsules / pods... black coffees work with one pod and milky coffees have two pods, one for the coffee and one for the milk. There is no mess as you just place one pod in the machine, set the value of water to be forced through, press go, remove pod and dispose, no mess - just ready for the next one!
There are a range of machines on offer, from Krups, Delonghi etc and small ones (Piccolo) and larger ones. There are funky ones, traditional looking ones, so will fit perfectly in any kitchen look or sat in your office!
To be honest the ease of use seemed apparent when choosing a machine, we decided on the style that had scale indicators relating to each capsules for the amount of coffee and milk depending on the drink.
Okay here is where it gets slightly technical but essential to understand for the machine you choose to buy! Each full cup of whichever drink holds a value of 7 (remember that). A short drink such as an espresso - has a value of 2 - it's a short drink and you'd be swinging off the chandeliers if you drank down a full cup... and perfect for a morning black fix is the Caffè Crema Grande - a full black cup of coffee so has a value of 7.
Milky drinks also have a total value of 7 (remember full cups have a value of 7). Two pods total a value of 7. Each pod clearly display the values needed to make a perfect cuppa ie 3 coffee, 4 milk OR 5 coffee and 2 milk.
Look at the scale on each of the pods! This caramel latte has a value of 5 on the Milk and 2 on the coffee!
Some machines require you to guess the proportions of milk to coffee but with scale indicator on the capusles being fool proof why compromise on the machine? - choose a coffee machine that has the indicator too!
Choose your fav flavours
Read the box to know which capsule to put in first
Look at the capsule scale to determine how much water to pump through
Put capsule 1 in the machine
Set the scale
Press GO / Start
Put capsule 2 in the machine
Adjust the scale for capsule 2
Press Go / Start
Okay - to the machines...
Remember to look for the machine that has the indicator! You may want to consider the size of the water tank - we drink lots so wish we'd chosen a larger capacity but our machine sits next to the sink so not a problem.
